Q&A about Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood deceptions and lies run deep at the expense of young girls, women and the American taxpayer. Here is a list of frequently asked questions and answers that Planned Parenthood does not want you to read.  (From exposeplannedparenthood.net )

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Q: Isn’t Planned Parenthood a safe and trusted organization?

A: Planned Parenthood has proven itself to be the best friend and perfect partner for a sex trafficker and statutory rapist – all under the code of confidentiality, no questions asked, and abortion is a good solution in any situation. Live Action undercover investigations consistently show Planned Parenthood at all levels endangering the health and safety of young girls.
Q: So what if Planned Parenthood fired just one New Jersey clinic manager for her willingness to aid and abet a self-identified pimp “manage” his 14 – 15 year old prostitutes – Isn’t that just an outlier?
A: No, unfortunately it is only one of the latest examples of Planned Parenthood facilitating the sexual exploitation of young girls.
Q: How long has this been going on and how can you prove it?
A: Four years of Live Action undercover investigations show 17 Planned Parenthood clinics in 10 different states guilty of the same willingness to aid and abet the sexual exploitation of minors.
In 2008, 10 Planned Parenthood clinics in CA, IN, AZ, TN, AL, and WI were willing to ignore mandatory reporting laws for sexual abuse so that they could procure secret abortions for minor girls with much older sexual partners.
This year, seven Planned Parenthood clinics in NJ, VA, NY, and DC were willing to aid and abet child sex trafficking, helping a man posing as a pimp and a prostitute “managing” an underage sex ring to get secret abortions, contraceptives, and STD testing to keep their commercial child rape business “safe” and operational.
The New Jersey Attorney General has directed her criminal justice division to investigate the matter, and the Virginia Attorney General has expressed serious concern at what the investigations revealed.
Q: What if the clinic workers did the right thing? Isn’t it safer for Planned Parenthood to equip the pimp and prostitutes with contraception instead of just sending them back out on the street?
A: Helping a pimp continue his commercial child rape business is never the right thing to do. Yet Planned Parenthood consistently counseled how the girls could get secret abortions and set up on birth control plans – all of which financially benefit Planned Parenthood and would keep their abuse secret and perpetuate their sex slavery. Sex trafficking is a federal crime and carries a potential life sentence.
Real help for abused girls is getting them out of the abusive situation, not trying to make the abuse “safe.”
Q: But aren’t the videos edited? I’ve heard that Live Action doctored the footage.
A: The videos are not “doctored.” The complete, unedited footage of Live Action’s recent investigations has remained available to the public on their website and Live Action has independently shared all footage with the U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to supplement any investigation into Planned Parenthood.
Live Action has provided abridged versions of some videos to feature the lowlights, much like news stations incorporating only minutes or seconds of video snippets in their nightly newscast from the original hours of footage originally recorded. The unconscionable actions of Planned Parenthood are the same in the abridged versions as they are in the full footage.

ABORTION-FIRST BUSINESS

Q: Planned Parenthood only reports 3% of its services have anything to do with abortion. Aren’t they mostly dedicated to providing family planning services to low-income populations?
A: The 3% statistic is misleading because Planned Parenthood unbundles its services when reporting them. Last year, Planned Parenthood saw 3 million clients and performed 324,008 abortions—at least one in 10 Planned Parenthood clients receives an abortion. As Abby Johnson, ex-Planned Parenthood director and employee of eight years has shared, they push for abortions above anything else because it’s the most profitable part of their business.

Q: But doesn’t Planned Parenthood prevent more abortions by offering contraception?

A: No. According to Planned Parenthood’s own estimates in an October 2010 fact sheet, they perform more abortions than they prevent. (324,008 abortions to 283,000 prevented)
Q: If Planned Parenthood didn’t receive federal funding, where else would people get free STD testing?
A: Nearly 7,000 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) are scattered throughout the country and provide even more free assistance to underprivileged people. Planned Parenthood only has 800 clinics nationally and may turn people away if they can’t pay.

Q: What about cancer screening and much-needed mammograms?

A: Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms. Even though they tout the ability to provide mammograms, there is no Planned Parenthood clinic that actually provides them in-house.  They have to refer out for them, just like most other clinics, which means they are not allocating their federal dollars to help low-income women pay for mammograms.
Q: Won’t people be stuck with nowhere to turn for health care without Planned Parenthood?
A: Planned Parenthood would love you to believe they are the only place to access free or low cost healthcare, but that is absolutely false. Nearly 7,000 Federally Qualified Health Centers in the U.S. provide comprehensive health care for men, women and children, instead of the narrow spectrum of care offered by Planned Parenthood.
FQHCs are able to provide annual exams, STD testing, all birth control methods and everything else Planned Parenthood provides – except abortion.  They also provide many services Planned Parenthood does not offer including vaccinations, x-rays, vision, dental, prenatal care and primary care to all members of the family.
Q: Why can’t we subsidize Planned Parenthoods that don’t perform abortions?
A: Good question. The sad fact is that Planned Parenthood is forcing every one of its 99 affiliates throughout the country to offer abortions by at least one of its clinics by 2011.  Once again, abortion is much more important to Planned Parenthood than they’d like you to believe.

FOLLOW THE MONEY

Q: Isn’t Planned Parenthood just a family planning non-profit?
A: Planned Parenthood is the nation’s top abortion chain having performed more than 324,000 abortions in 2008.  They receive more than one third of their billion-dollar budget from taxpayer subsidies. And, despite being legally registered as a “non-profit” entity, Planned Parenthood reported $63 million in profits in their last annual report.

Q: But isn’t it against the law to use federal dollars to pay for abortions?

A: That is what Planned Parenthood repeats over and over again, but as Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) recently explained, “these dollars are fungible” and “federal funding allows the group to use other funds for abortions.”
Fungible means interchangeable. All Planned Parenthood clinics and affiliates pay dues to Planned Parenthood national, and so the money received by clinics all goes into one pot at the end of the day.
Q: Abortion is still legal. So why should we stop funding Planned Parenthood?
A: People who are pro-life and pro-choice overwhelmingly agree: our hard-earned money should not be paying for abortions. Recent polling has shown that the vast majority of Americans agree that their hard-earned tax dollars should not subsidize Planned Parenthood, especially not to the tune of more than $360 million every year.  Imagine what these people would say if they knew their money was also being used to pay for an organization that aids and abets child sex trafficking.

CONGRESS MUST SPEAK NOW

Q: Why should we expect Congress to cease funding when they dozens of other legislation to consider in the budget?
A: We elect Members of Congress to be our voice.  Ideology and politics aside, what member of Congress would want to vote for taxpayer funding of an organization willing to engage in sex trafficking and sexual exploitation of young girls? For those who do, it will be telling to see how they explain their vote to constituents back home.
If there ever was a time to stop funding Planned Parenthood, it’s now. If we are really serious about the financial crisis and cutting back spending, this is the first place to start.

Q: What if Congress does not prevent our tax dollars from paying for abortions and the abuse of children at Planned Parenthood?

A: Acquiescence to a corrupt, dangerous organization like Planned Parenthood is unconscionable. If a Congressional Member is complicit in funneling our taxes into a corrupt organization that profits off of the exploitation of young girls, they will need to face that voting record in their reelection campaign.
